Filecoin price climbed more than 22% over the past day to around USD 1.00 as spot volume surpassed USD 500 million. A 1,008% jump in volume and short liquidations accompanied the move. The surge now leaves one immediate market question: can FIL hold USD 1.00 as momentum turns overbought?

Filecoin Trading Volume Fuels the Rally

FIL climbed from the mid-USD 0.80 range to the doorstep of USD 1.00 within hours. The surge in spot activity increased liquidity and accelerated the price move.

Derivatives activity added more pressure. Funding rates turned positive, while traders holding short positions faced liquidations as FIL advanced. Those forced purchases added demand during the rally.

The advance did not follow one major announcement. Instead, stronger trading activity, short liquidations, and momentum buying drove the immediate move toward the key USD 1.00 area.

Solstice and Filecoin Network Changes Stay in Focus

The Filecoin team published the Solstice proposal on July 17, 2026, according to Bitcoinethereumnews. The proposal seeks to remove bottlenecks in Filecoin Plus datacap approvals for storage providers.

The governance plan aims to improve storage efficiency and simplify provider participation. Filecoin also continues to expand its decentralized storage role as AI applications require larger datasets and more storage capacity.

Activity around the Filecoin Virtual Machine also expands the network's use beyond file storage. Meanwhile, expectations center on the scheduled end of Filecoin's vesting program on October 15, 2026.

That change carries expectations for a 75% reduction in FIL token emissions. These network developments provide a longer-term backdrop while short-term trading remains volatile.

FIL Tests USD 1 as Momentum Signals Turn Overbought

FIL traded near USD 0.9949, placing the token close to the USD 1.00 level. A sustained move above that area would bring USD 1.05 and USD 1.10 into focus. Still, the RSI reached 76.31, placing the indicator in overbought territory. The chart also showed bearish divergence because momentum weakened while the price moved higher.

If buyers lose control of USD 1.00, support sits near USD 0.95 and USD 0.90. Before the latest surge, another technical outlook placed immediate Ichimoku Kijun resistance near USD 0.96385. This earlier setup showed FIL below its MA-20 and MA-50 on the hourly chart, while the MA-200 held as longer-term support. MACD and ADX pointed to bearish momentum.

At the same time, RSI, Stoch RSI, and CCI showed oversold intraday conditions. Bull/Bear Power and the Awesome Oscillator also indicated seller dominance. The earlier outlook projected a USD 0.8288523 to USD 0.9483477 range over two to three sessions. It assigned 60% probability to a support break and 40% to an upside move.

A Brief Roundup

Filecoin’s 22% rally followed a surge in spot volume, short liquidations, and momentum buying. FIL now faces the USD 1.00 level while RSI signals overbought conditions. At the same time, Solstice and expected emissions changes remain part of the network’s longer-term development backdrop.
