Millions of users in the United States and other countries, including India, faced outages on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. Users reported widespread service disruptions late Tuesday in the US and early Wednesday in India. Some received error messages such as ‘Your account is currently unavailable.’ Meanwhile, others reported login failures and messaging issues, triggering thousands of complaints on outage tracking platforms.
Users trying to access Facebook, especially on desktop, were shown alerts stating their accounts were temporarily unavailable due to a site issue. Data from Downdetector showed over 11,000 reports by mid-afternoon Pacific Time. Most complaints were linked to website access problems, while others involved login failures. Reports came from multiple regions, including parts of the US, Bangladesh, and Greece.
At the same time, Instagram users reported issues with direct messaging. Many informed that they could not send or view DMs. The spike in outage reports began in the late afternoon Eastern Time, suggesting the disruption was not limited to one location. Users quickly turned to other platforms to confirm whether the issue was widespread.
TikTok also confirmed service disruption for some users in the United States. The company said the issue was tied to a problem at an Oracle data centre. Some creators experienced delays in posting content. Oracle acknowledged the outage and said teams were working to resolve it. This marks another recent TikTok disruption linked to Oracle infrastructure.
The incident shows how a technical issue at a major data centre can affect multiple platforms at once. As millions depend on social media for communication and business, even short disruptions can cause concern. While services appear to be gradually restored, users are waiting for clearer updates on the exact cause.
