Exide Industries has signed a long-term strategic cooperation agreement with Germany-based ExCom Energy Solutions GmbH to expand its industrial battery and energy storage business across the European Economic Area (EEA).

The companies signed the agreement on September 15, 2026. Under the partnership, ExCom will market and sell products under its own brand across the EEA. The cooperation will combine Exide Industries’ manufacturing and battery technology capabilities with ExCom’s customer network and technical support operations in Europe.

ExCom to Lead Customer and Distribution Operations Across EEA

Under the agreement, ExCom will act as the main commercial and technical contact for customers across the European Economic Area. The German company will manage customer development, product distribution and technical project support. It will also coordinate after-sales services for customers using products supplied through the partnership.

Exide Industries will support the venture with its manufacturing capacity, battery products and technical expertise. Meanwhile, ExCom will provide local market knowledge, application engineering and customer support. The companies said they will adapt their products to meet technical, regulatory and operating requirements in different EEA markets.

The initial focus will include traction and motive-power batteries used in forklifts, material-handling equipment and other industrial mobility applications. These products serve sectors such as warehousing, manufacturing and logistics.

Partnership Covers Stationary Batteries and Energy Storage Systems

Exide Industries and ExCom will also work together on stationary battery systems. These systems support industrial sites, infrastructure projects and energy storage applications where customers require reliable backup or stored power.

The cooperation will cover more than battery supply. Customers will have access to battery systems, charging technology, system integration, application engineering and lifecycle services. The companies will also support product selection, installation, operation, maintenance and after-sales service.

Avik Roy, Managing Director and CEO of Exide Industries, said, “European Economic Area represents a strategically important market for Exide India’s industrial energy storage business, with growing demand for dependable, efficient, and sustainable energy solutions.”

Roy added that ExCom will provide market access and local execution, while Exide will contribute manufacturing scale, a broad product range and battery technology expertise.

Exide and ExCom Plan Expansion into Advanced Battery Chemistries

The companies will begin the partnership with established battery technologies, including lead-acid systems. However, they also plan to explore advanced battery chemistries as their cooperation develops.

Holger Aschke, Managing Director of ExCom Energy Solutions GmbH, said, “Together, we intend to build a robust European platform for traction batteries while exploring next-generation industrial energy storage opportunities.”

The European agreement comes as Exide Industries continues to invest in its broader battery business. In July, the company invested another Rs. 99.99 crore in its electric vehicle battery subsidiary, Exide Energy Solutions, taking its cumulative investment in the unit above Rs. 4,900 crore.

Exide Industries also reported consolidated net sales of Rs. 5,528.38 crore for the first quarter of FY27, up 17.75% from a year earlier. Consolidated net profit increased 28.38% year on year to Rs. 350.47 crore.

Through the ExCom partnership, Exide Industries will use a local commercial and technical platform to sell industrial battery and energy storage products across the EEA while ExCom manages customer-facing operations in the region.
