Dyson launched CameraJet, a smart toothbrush featuring a camera powered by Gap Optical Targeting. The company said, “The product is the result of six years of research, development and engineering, challenging every aspect of conventional oral care.”

The toothbrush comes with an integrated 100k-pixel macro-lens camera powered by machine learning. It can detect, track and predict gaps between teeth in real time.

The 100k-pixel macro-lens camera uses Dyson’s Gap Optical Targeting AI machine-learning algorithm. It scans 28 live images per second to identify, track, and predict gaps between teeth. Within 100ms of the camera detecting a gap, the device jets the area, triggering a conical burst of mouthrinse designed to floss while users brush.

Dyson CameraJet runs on 16 million lines of code and uses a machine learning system trained on 470,000 dental images collected during development.

The toothbrush uses a broad conical-shaped spray. Dyson says its wider coverage can sweep and remove plaque while operating at lower pressure to be gentler on gums and enamel.

The device features a compact 12.5ml mouthrinse tank that dispenses the recommended amount of mouthrinse, optimized to clean the gaps in a single session without flooding the mouth.

An anti-gravity tank with a diaphragm pump and pressure chamber adapts during use to deliver controlled, uninterrupted jets in any orientation.

The CameraJet supports Wi-Fi at 2.4GHz and Bluetooth connectivity. Through the MyDyson app, users can access guided cleaning, how-to films, brushing and flossing insights, coverage mapping, and personalized feedback.

The smart toothbrush comes with a docking station that charges the device and provides a dedicated place to store it upright and ready for daily use. The brush head features a sonic dampener for acoustics and comfort, while sonic oscillation varies the brush head's angle during brushing.

The mouthrinse and toothpaste will be available in two flavors: Ginger Mint and Spearmint.

James Dyson, Founder and Chief Engineer, said, “Flossing is an awkward and time-consuming chore,” adding that few people do it despite knowing they should.

He highlighted that Dyson engineers and scientists have spent well over a decade studying oral care regimes and how problems build up in the mouth. The Dyson Dental System was introduced in selected markets. Dyson said its India launch will be announced closer to the time of availability.
