The stablecoin market experienced a notable decline over the past month, with USD Coin (USDC) leading the downturn in overall market capitalization. Meanwhile, UK insurance giant Aviva invested GBP 50 million into the XRP Ledger ecosystem, directly supporting the launch of a new tokenized asset class.

In other news, a critical bug in a prominent Bitcoin wallet allowed rogue servers to drain user funds. Following the exploit, BloomTrading committed to assuring returns and compensating affected users after the wallet drain.

USDC Drives Stablecoin Drop

As of October 25, Circle’s USDC contributed around 80% of the net 30-day drop among the 13 largest stablecoins, according to monthly DeFiLlama. Circle’s token lost USD 4.69 billion in the month. The 13 tokens lost USD 5.82 billion in net value. USDC’s market cap was USD 71.743 billion, down USD 878.72 million just in the last week.

The total stablecoin market declined to USD 300.36 billion on October 25. DeFiLlama data shows it has lost USD 12.73 billion since May 22. Tether’s USDT fell less over the month. It had a market cap of USD 182.423 billion, down USD 1.29 billion in 30 days, down USD 990.43 million in 7 days and still possesses 60.74% of the market. The seven-day shrinkage across the 15 largest stablecoins was about USD 1.90 billion.

Aviva Launches GBP 50 Million Tokenized Fund

Aviva Investors, in collaboration with Ripple, has launched a tokenized share class of its Sterling Liquidity Fund on the XRP Ledger (XRPL), with an initial investment of GBP 50 million.

The new offering is part of Aviva's GBP 22 billion sterling money-market portfolio. It brings the combined holdings across the asset manager's two tokenized share classes to more than GBP 86 million, approximately USD 116 million.

According to Ripple's October 26 announcement, this is Aviva Investors' second tokenized money-market fund offering on XRPL, following its first launch in July 2026. The new share class belongs to the Ireland-domiciled Aviva Investors Sterling Liquidity Fund, established in 2002. The GBP 50 million represents investment in the tokenized fund share class rather than a direct investment in XRP tokens or the XRP Ledger network.

Uniswap’s V4 Trading Volume Reached Over USD 700 million

Uniswap trading volume on its v4 platform reached USD 707 million over the past 30 days on  Robinhood, according to a post by @ponsdotfamily. The USD 707 million figure refers specifically to v4 trading conducted through Robinhood during the reported period. It is not presented as a total for every trading channel across Uniswap.

Uniswap shared the figure by amplifying the post, which identified Robinhood as the exclusive source of that activity. The platform’s role is central to the report’s indication of stronger retail engagement with decentralized trading.

The reported Uniswap trading volume suggests increasing retail participation in decentralized finance, or DeFi. Uniswap allows users to exchange cryptocurrencies directly without intermediaries, and the activity points to growing adoption of that trading model.

Bitcoin Wallet Bug Lets Rogue Server Steal Funds

A security flaw in the Electrum wallet allowed malicious servers to trick users into authorizing payments that ultimately sent funds to attackers. Developers confirmed that at least one user lost money after what appeared to be a routine attempt to speed up a pending transaction, prompting the release of an urgent software update.

The issue affected how Electrum handled unconfirmed Bitcoin transactions. Unlike a full Bitcoin node, Electrum depends on external servers to retrieve transaction history and broadcast payments. Before the security update, the wallet trusted those servers to report pending transactions without verifying their signatures.

According to the disclosure, attackers controlling a malicious server could intercept a Bitcoin payment before it reached the network and replace it with a fraudulent transaction in the wallet history.

BloomTrading Assures Returns After Wallet Drain

BloomTrading has promised to reimburse nine affected wallets following reports that nearly USD 1 million in Solana was drained from users of its cryptocurrency trading bot.

BloomTrading, in an October 26 statement, said it would fully compensate nine affected wallets by transferring replacement funds to new addresses designated by their owners. The announcement followed complaints from Solana traders who discovered unauthorized withdrawals from wallets associated with the automated trading platform.

Separately, blockchain investigators estimated that 9,408 SOL, worth approximately USD 954,000, had reached an address suspected of receiving stolen cryptocurrency from 49 victims.
