Ripple says Europe now forms a regulated base for the next stage of its crypto business. The company plans to expand payments, stablecoin services and institutional products across the European Economic Area.

The shift follows full authorization under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation, known as MiCA. Ripple now moves from securing approval to attracting institutions and processing more transactions throughout the region.

The authorization gives clients one regulatory framework for accessing Ripple’s services across participating European markets through a licensed entity.

Ripple MiCA License Opens the EEA Market

Luxembourg’s Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier granted Ripple a Crypto Asset Service Provider authorization on July 6. The CASP license confirms full MiCA compliance for the company’s regulated crypto asset services.

The approval allows Ripple to offer its payments product to financial institutions, companies and other businesses across all 30 EEA countries. Ripple received preliminary approval in June before completing the authorization process the following month.

Cassie Craddock, Ripple’s managing director for the UK and Europe, described the firm as “fully compliant and ready to scale.” She said European institutions want regulated partners as they build digital asset services.

Ripple also holds an electronic money institution license in the European Union. Its global portfolio now includes more than 75 regulatory licenses, according to the company’s July announcement.

MiCA Deadline Changes Europe’s Crypto Market

Meanwhile, the MiCA transition period for affected virtual asset service providers ended on July 1. The CSSF says providers can no longer offer crypto asset services in the EU without CASP authorization.

Unauthorized providers must wind down their EU operations in an orderly way. They cannot open new accounts, onboard customers, advertise products or distribute services under the expired arrangements.

The rules also apply to companies outside the EU that actively seek European customers. A narrow exemption may cover cases where a customer independently contacts an overseas provider.

Ripple secured its license days after the transition period closed. The authorization lets the company approach banks, fintech firms and corporate customers that require regulated digital asset services. However, the license covers Ripple’s business operations rather than guaranteeing wider use of XRP.

Stablecoin Payments Lead Ripple’s Expansion

Ripple’s 2026 survey highlights the demand supporting its European strategy. It found that 72% of European fintechs expect digital asset services to become necessary for financial institutions.

Additionally, 48% expect stablecoin payments to become essential within one or two years. Another 44% expect stablecoins to become the default option for cross-border payments within five years.

The survey found that 65% see stablecoins improving cash flow efficiency and freeing working capital. Ripple plans to target those payment and treasury uses through its regulated infrastructure.

Its payments network supports payouts in more than 60 major markets through 51 real-time payment rails. Ripple also reports more than 20 banking partners and over $100 billion in processed volume.

The company already provides custody technology to European institutions, including BBVA and Germany’s DZ BANK. Those relationships cover retail and institutional digital asset custody services in several markets.

Ripple’s survey found that 34% of European fintechs actively scale digital asset use for treasury and payments. The global average reached 27%, placing Europe seven percentage points higher in the study.
