Apple Music is adding a video karaoke feature called Selfie Sing for iPhone users through the iOS 27.3 beta. The feature lets users record singing performances with synchronized lyrics, vocal adjustments and sharing options. Apple aims to make karaoke more interactive by bringing video creation directly into its music streaming app.
The new Apple Music Selfie Sing mode appeared in the first iOS 27.3 developer beta, released on November 3, 2026. Users can select compatible songs, activate the camera and record vertical videos while following lyrics.
MacRumors analyst Aaron Perris first highlighted the feature through a demonstration shared online. The feature currently works on iPhones running the latest developer beta.
Selfie Sing builds on Apple Music Sing, which already offers synchronized lyrics and adjustable original vocals. The new feature adds front-camera recording, turning regular karaoke sessions into shareable video performances.
Users can select a supported track and tap the camera icon beneath the vocal-volume control. A recording button then captures the performance while synchronized lyrics appear on the screen.
After recording, users can adjust their vocal volume and apply different microphone effects. Available effects include Megaphone, Echo, Concert Hall and Studio.
Apple also allows users to save completed recordings to the Photos library or share them with friends. This gives Apple Music another social feature without requiring a separate video creation app.
The Selfie Sing playlist also appears on iPhones running iOS 27.2, although recording requires iOS 27.3 beta. The camera-based feature currently supports selected songs rather than Apple Music's entire catalog.
The recording option also remains unavailable on iPad, including devices running iPadOS 27.3. Apple has not announced a public release date or confirmed wider device availability.
Selfie Sing adds another creative layer to Apple Music's existing karaoke experience. Its appeal will depend on song availability and whether users embrace sharing their performances.
