Anduril and Qualcomm have plans to team up to build a new range of laptops in the US for military requirements. On Tuesday, Defense tech firm Anduril talked about this partnership to design a series of rugged laptops named BlueChip laptops, which will be specifically designed for military and government staff who need secure devices that can work in tough settings.

The company has planned to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Series chips to power the laptop series. The work has already started, and Anduril will probably start taking orders in 2027. The laptops are reportedly made by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. at its Arizona facilities.

BlueChip laptops reportedly will also support AI tasks that run on the device itself. About the production of the laptops, the Anduril founder Palmer Luckey mentioned, “As of right now, the laptop’s bill of materials is about 90% US and allied, and we have a technical roadmap to get to 100% domestic over time.”

He further continued, “The intent in the long run is to have an option that is made entirely in the United States, 100% domestic, and I mean everything. I mean the displays. I mean the metallics. I mean the magnetics. All of it.”

How Military Laptop Needs Differ From Everyday Computers

Military laptops must be designed to handle conditions that most home and office computers never face. They can be exposed to dust, rain, snow, or take a strong hit while used in fields. Additionally, the security part of these laptops is the most important section. The BlueChip laptops must protect all the sensitive data from cyberattacks from rival countries.

Everyday laptop buyers often look at price, battery life, weight, and screen quality. Military users need all these features along with toughness, data safety, and software support. These extra needs can also make military laptops more costly than regular models. The project’s success will depend on the laptops’ performance, security, and ability to meet military needs when orders open.
