Amazon has introduced a completely redesigned Kindle family, bringing thinner hardware, flush-front displays, and edge-to-edge color across its latest e-readers. The new lineup, announced on October 1, 2026, includes updated Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Colorsoft models, along with Kids editions and new accessories.
The devices are launching across multiple markets, including the US, UK, Japan, Australia, the UAE, and several European countries, as Amazon looks to make dedicated reading devices more portable and comfortable for longer reading sessions.
The redesign comes as Kindle continues to see strong demand. Amazon says the Kindle business has recorded double-digit global growth for three consecutive years, with users reading more than 720 billion pages in 2025.
The biggest change across the new Kindle family is the redesigned display architecture. Amazon has moved to a reverse-stack construction that removes the raised border around the screen. The result is a flush-front display that provides a more continuous reading surface while also helping make the devices thinner.
The lineup also gets new colors, including Ube, Alpine Sky, Seaglass Green and Graphite. The entry-level Kindle has a 6-inch screen, 16GB storage, and up to six weeks of battery life. Amazon says it opens books about 30% faster than the previous model and starts at $149.99. An aluminum version with 32GB storage starts at $189.99.
The new Kindle Paperwhite is thinner and lighter, while retaining waterproofing and adjustable warm lighting. It offers up to 12 weeks of battery life and starts at $199.99 with 16GB storage. The Signature Edition adds 32GB storage, aluminum construction, and an auto-adjusting front light.
Meanwhile, the Kindle Colorsoft gets a redesigned color display designed to deliver a paper-like appearance. It starts at $289.99, while the 32GB Signature Edition costs $319.99.

Amazon is also introducing accessories designed around hands-free reading. The Kindle Click, priced at $34.99, is a Bluetooth remote that lets users turn pages without touching the device. A magnetic Page-Turn Cover with physical buttons and a charging dock is also available for select premium models.
The new Kindle and aluminum model are available from October 1 in several countries, while Paperwhite and Colorsoft are beginning their rollout through preorders. Kids versions are also joining the refreshed lineup, with kid-friendly covers and a 12-month Amazon Kids+ subscription included.
