RTFKT, owned by Nike, permits commercial rights to the non-fungible tokens (NFTs) for CloneX NFTs

When Nike revealed in late 2021 that it had taken possession of Web3 content developer RTFKT Studios, the news went right under the noses of the sneaker and apparel brand's most die-hard fans. But the wider Web3 community took notice — particularly those tuned into the NFT space. With this new possession, Nike aims to create a name for itself on the metaverse clear. And presently, thanks to the rapidly growing CloneX NFTs collection that was initiated in November 2021, it seems Nike may reproduce its IRL cultural capital on Web3.

Although it sounds like the act of roaming around the metaverse on a quest for digital berries forging is the name for events that allow NFT owners to redeem digital and physical goods. Despite the hype Nike and RTFKT have been creating together through their innumerable NFT drops over the preceding months, CloneX NFTs legitimacy seems to be anything but hyperbole. The amalgam of factors joined together to enable the NFT community at wide to welcome this new project with warm acceptance. When legacy brands — peculiarly luxury ones — set foot in this new territory, they tend to do so with a splash. There is no exception with Nike, as evidenced by the drops that new acquisition RTFKT has been pumping into the space. While the new tandem carried out their first NFT drop in February 2022, their finest work was still on the way to come. Beginning in April 2022, RTFKT has brought virtual, officially licensed Nike sneakers into the NFT market: the CryptoKicks NFT collection. Sneaker culture has grabbed a notoriously speculative direction in past years, so it only makes sense that there's an extending crossover between sneakerheads and the NFT faithful. In acceptance of that crossover, with Nike's acquisition of RTFKT also came the acquisition of its CloneX NFTs avatar collection, which launched a month before news of the acquisition became public knowledge.

The CloneX NFTs name is not just referring to a manufacturer of rooting gels, cloning solutions, and other industrial solvents. It is also an NFT collection. RTFKT has given new utilities to CloneX's holders, including commercial rights to the non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The Nike-owned web3 brand looks to permit NFT holders to develop fan art, make avatar-based merchandise and launch derivative projects. Nike and RTFKT's CloneX NFTs collection consist of 20,000 3D avatars NFTs called "Clones" designed with a particular focus in mind. Each Clone in the collection is turnkey, ready for the metaverse from the start, as the collection marks the first piece in Nike and RTFKT's intended metaverse ecosystem.
