2024 was more or less a good year for Xbox gamers with them getting successful titles like Metaphor: ReFantazio, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Dragon’s Dogma 2, etc. Looks like Microsoft gaming authorities are willing to keep this tradition going in 2025 with the return of Xbox Developer Direct with three exciting titles for gamers.

Xbox Developer Direct: A Short Glimpse of Xbox Gaming Future

On Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 10 am PST and 1 pm EST, Xbox is going to hold the third Developer Direct event. This is the back-to-back third Developer Direct event Xbox is about to organize in a row, starting from 2023.

Every year, through this event, Xbox teases the upcoming titles that are about to make their way to Xbox consoles. As revealed in the latest Xbox blog post, “Developer_Direct offers an in-depth look at upcoming titles, how they’re being created, and who’s creating them.”

For instance, last year this event hinted at the most anticipated Bethesda title: Indiana Jones and the Great Circle’s coming to Xbox. Following the same method, this year, gamers are going to get multiple teasers of upcoming games that are, to some extent, enough to blow their minds.

Games Coming to Xbox Developer Direct

Xbox Developer Direct is a short event that consists of 45 minutes of gameplay and other announcements without any hosts. Like the previous two years, this event will be live streamed on YouTube and Twitch.

While this event is going to show off multiple game teasers, three games are announced to be featured in the event for sure:

DOOM: The Dark Ages: After Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, once again, Xbox gamers are going to get a Bethesda game, based on the DOOM series. DOOM: The Dark Ages is the eighth main entry in the franchise and is considered the prequel to DOOM Eternal, for it tells the story of Doom the Slayer’s rage. Players will step into the blood-stained shoes of Doom the Slayer while trying to save his kingdom during the fight with Hellish forces.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: Sandfall Interactive’s turned-based RPG, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, is one of the most-anticipated games scheduled to be released in 2025. This game takes place in the dark fantasy world of the Belle Époque period and tells the story of six protagonists who are trying to build an obstacle to prevent the god-like power of Paintress, who can destine the fate of people by writing the story of their death in the sky.

South of Midnight: The third and the final game that’s announced to come at the event is Compulsion Games’ upcoming single-player action-adventure tale, South of Midnight. Set in a fictionalized American Deep South, this game will take players on an adventure of exploring Deep South mythos and taking down mysterious creatures blocking their path.

All three games have been announced without any release date. Probably, the Xbox Developer Direct event will end the wait, and players will receive engaging trailers with concrete release dates.

What’s The Main Attraction of the Xbox Developer Direct?

Xbox Developer Direct has surprises for gamers. Aside from the three games stated above, there are a few more games that will make their presence at the event, and among them, there’s one surprise game.

The Xbox blog post mentioned the team has visited “a surprise location to see another studio’s brand new game.” Well, no hints are given, but that doesn’t stop gamers from speculating about this upcoming game. While a group opines that it is probably another Bethesda game that most gamers have been anticipating for a long time: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remaster.

The rumor regarding The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remaster has already been in the air for quite some time, but Bethesda never talked about it. However, in September some leaked Microsoft documents came to light that had The Elder Scrolls IV game on the unannounced Bethesda game list. This has fueled the speculation of this game coming to Xbox Developer Direct.

It's unsure which games will ultimately arrive at the event, but one thing is certain that Xbox gaming will proceed another step forward in the ever competitive gaming world with a new library of games to try out.
