Nintendo Switch enthusiasts are abuzz with excitement as recent reports about the dimensions of the anticipated Switch 2 have surfaced online. Reports suggest that the next-generation console will be significantly larger than its predecessors, with leaked specifications from a leading accessory manufacturer hinting at a bold new design for the beloved gaming device.
According to Dbrand, a well-known accessory maker, the Switch 2 will measure approximately 270 x 116 x 14mm with Joy-Cons attached, making it 24mm longer than the current Switch OLED Model. Without the controllers, the console is expected to be 200mm wide—an increase from the Switch OLED’s 176 mm width. Reported dimensions align with previous leaks from accessory listings that hinted at the console's larger size.
Another aspect of such devices, in the same vein, is projected to grow in terms of the sizes of the screens of the devices. Analysts predict the Switch 2 will feature an 8-inch display, maintaining the familiar 16:9 aspect ratio. This would certainly be far better than the 7-inch OLED screen of the current generation of the product. People can have a better feeling about gaming just because the new console is bigger compared with the previous models.
Beyond the console itself, leaks suggest that the Switch 2 dock will also see a redesign, potentially becoming bulkier to accommodate the device’s larger size and offer greater stability.
Regarding the Switch 2 accessories, Adam Ijaz, the CEO of Dbrand, revealed information about the development process of their products, he said “These designs are built to the specifications of the actual dimensions obtained via a 3D scan of the real hardware.” Sometime in the next six months, the company said it will release cases, accessories and other related products for the device, raising hopes that the console is being prepared for mass production.
Nintendo has assured the public that it would release the Switch 2 before the close of the current financial year, on March 31 2025. Even though a release isn’t likely to happen before Q2 2025, enthusiasts are looking forward to the official announcement and more details regarding this much-needed addition to the Switch family.
