Hogwarts Legacy reached a certain peak, which Warner Bros. probably never imagined. As soon as it was released, it shattered almost all the previous records set by other games. Set in the magical world of Hogwarts, the game transports players a century back in time, long before Harry Potter’s story began.

The magical, fantasy world of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is so familiar to gamers that the task was tough for Warner Bros. However, they nailed it with familiar spells: the Grand Hall of Hogwarts, the four Hogwarts Houses, the flying broom, and the Quidditch match. Again, after two years, Warner Bros. and Avalanche Software are planning something big for players, especially PC players, with the upcoming mod support.

What Do Mods Do in Hogwarts Legacy?

Mod support is a common thing in the gaming world. Sometimes, developers come up with official mod supports; otherwise, modders show their creativity to enhance gameplay experiences for players through other modding platforms. Currently, the Hogwarts Legacy players can have more than 50 mod support options if they go through Nexus Mods.

Some mods let players modify their character presets and wand appearance, while others enhance gameplay by silencing the talking portraits, improving mouse control, or increasing the number of conjurable items. However, the majority focus on character customization, allowing players to adjust skin tone, outfit styles, eye color, and more.

When is the New Mod Support Coming to Hogwarts Legacy?

Now that it’s been almost two years since the game was released, Avalanche Software and Warner Bros. have confirmed that they haven't abandoned this game. Instead, they have further plans with this record-breaking 2023 title. They are coming with official Mod support for PC gamers on January 30, 2025.

This official mod support is coming with a free update on January 30. As soon as gamers install this update, they can explore the newly modded Hogwarts Legacy features, including multiple customization options.

The community manager, Chandler Wood, expressed how to create mods using this official support feature: “Mod creators, you’ll be able to get the official Hogwarts Legacy creator kit free on the Epic Games Store. The creator kit provides powerful tools right at your fingertips, allowing you to flex your inner developer like the ones here at Avalanche and conjure the magic with custom mods that other players can enjoy, too.”

What Does the Official Mod Support Bring to Gamers?

Players expect a lot from it because it’s the official mod support feature. Well, even the 3-minute video by the community manager at Avalanche Software showed that the mod support is about to bring several interesting features. Of course, character customization will be there, as the video already showed that players can change their characters' hair color and try new faces on them.

Aside from that, they can switch their magical broom to something else. For example, it can be transformed into Dragon Spine or Phoenix. Even it can turn into a vacuum cleaner. Besides, this mod support will take the customization experience to a new height by allowing players to create customized dungeons, quests, and endless enemy fights to test their gameplay and fighting skills.

These mod creations will be hosted by the online modding platform CurseForge. The official announcement confirmed that modders need to submit their mods to this platform, and for that, a Warner Bros. account is required. Once submitted, the mod will be live for any Hogwarts Legacy PC gamer to install and try.

Hogwarts Legacy sold more than 30 million copies in its lifetime, and there are millions of console players in this count. Currently, there’s no news of this official mod support coming to consoles. Anyway, Warner Bros. reportedly has been working on Hogwarts Legacy Definitive Edition to continue the story. In the meantime, it’s not a bad idea for PC gamers to check out new mods.
