Apple's entry-level iPad is expected to have a significant configuration update in 2025. In this case, with reference to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the 11th generation iPad’s key update will allow it to be compatible with Apple Intelligence, which is an AI ecosystem developed by the company. Presented as the update that turns the iPad into the most capable and versatile product in Apple’s portfolio, this should make Apple’s smallest and cheapest tablet more useful.
The new iPad will allegedly run on the A17 Pro chip that has been integrated into the iPhone 15 Pro devices. As it has been stated before, similar to the iPad mini 7, the new iPad will also come with the A17 Pro chip binned down to a 5-core GPU. This means the device is enhanced in terms of performance as well as efficiency to increase likelihood of being fit for future use. Also, as a new feature, the iPad will have a memory upgrade to 8GB RAM to cover the minimum needs for features in Apple Intelligence.
Apple Intelligence, the machine intelligence assistant of Apple, today runs things such as Writing Tools and Priority Notification on more advanced devices. The A17 Pro chip and 8GB RAM will enable these features in the entry-level iPad offering improved productivity tools and smarter notifications. This is a major advancement in an aspect Apple has struggled to match, AI, on its affordable tablet which has otherwise been revised in the Pro and Air versions.
Gurman also speculates that Apple will launch the 11th generation iPad, as well as other devices in the first half of the calendar year 2025. These include a new iPhone SE, updated models of the iPad Air and new looks for the Magic Keyboards. This launch synchronised could present a unified uplift for users through the Apple ecosystem.
According to rumors the new iPad Apple is going to release will be the entry level iPad that will come with all those enhancements. If the users want a cheap but high-performing tablet, the 11th generation iPad looks set to be a great product.
