Experimenting with ChatGPT: Insights into 10 Industries

The top 10 industries experimenting with ChatGPT are considering if AI is a friend or a foe

In November 2022, OpenAI's ChatGPT, an AI chatbot trained on massive quantities of data, had its public launch. This quickly sparked both alarm and innovative discussion regarding the use of AI in the workplace. What ChatGPT means for my career is a question that more and more professionals are asking as the buzz continues to build in the following months.

Anxiety and possibility are coexisting in perfect harmony everywhere. For example, some people use ChatGPT to generate malware while others use it to assist programmers in debugging their code. And although doctors have seen some astonishing cases of diagnostic success from AI, they've also seen horrible examples of error. Here are the top 10 industries experimenting with ChatGPT and its potential usage as employers and employees decide if the remarkable artificial intelligence is a friend or a foe.

  1. Travel Industry

An industry publication called Travel Weekly put AI to the test to see how its trip suggestions are stacked up against those made by a knowledgeable advisor. What is the greatest luxury hotel in Paris? was a question that ChatGPT answered well, but it lacked the depth that comes from the close relationship an adviser has with their client.

  1. Legal Industry

In Colombia, a judge utilized ChatGPT to render a judgment. It's the first time a court has acknowledged utilizing artificial intelligence to decide a case. Judge Juan Manuel Padilla Garcia utilized ChatGPT to respond to legal inquiries concerning the case and used the results in his ruling.

  1. Real Estate Industry

ChatGPT allows real estate professionals to quickly create property summaries by entering keywords. The description just needs a few human adjustments before it is ready for distribution.

  1. Marketing Industry

An organization that specializes in video marketing called Wistia is testing out AI video production from beginning to end. What part does ChatGPT play? The script for the advertisement was written by it. One of the marketers said it was "an excellent beginning point for a video screenplay" after asking it for a 60-second YouTube-style text about how to make apple pie.

  1. Education Industry

New teaching resources, including essay topics, test questions, and lesson plans, are continually being developed by educators. Several others, like Stephen Lockyer, are considering giving that task to ChatGPT. The AI bot was tasked by the elementary school teacher to develop a multi-lesson lesson plan on the subject of volcanoes. Thereafter, he tweeted, "I hate to be that guy, but AI is going to be revolutionary as a teacher."

  1. Law Industry

A measure to control generative AI was written by ChatGPT and filed in Massachusetts earlier this month. Although it had some assistance, according to State Senator Barry Finegold, the AI drafted more than half the measure.

  1. Healthcare Industry

Researchers and doctors are testing ChatGPT's patient diagnosis capabilities. A physician named Jeremy Faust described the AI's response as "eerily good." But he also pointed out that not all of the data it offered was reliable. Since the stakes in medicine are so high, it will be a while before doctors completely rely on AI to diagnose their patients for them. In reality, part of it was "made up" by the bot.

  1. Publishing Industry

Several news outlets (but not Quartz!) have already tried using ChatGPT to produce stories. However, the majority of these studies involve attempting to insert an oddball perspective into the ChatGPT story. Officially, the AI's training data only contains knowledge until 2021, making it unable to write about current events at this time.

  1. Tech Industry

ChatGPT's capacity to produce quality code fast is being experimented with by programmers. Even though the final product required some human assistance, one developer was able to use AI to create an entire app. Criminals are also experimenting with ChatGPT, with some producing powerful malware without any prior training.

  1. Construction Industry

Schedules created using ChatGPT may be tailored to the requirements of straightforward construction projects. The AI was given a floor layout, a list of duties, and a declaration of the scope by academics from New York University-Abu Dhabi. They found that ChatGPT might help with fundamental project management, while not being flawless.
