Ethereum would need a substantial rally to reach USD 4,000 by the end of 2026. With ETH trading around USD 2,700 in late September, reaching that threshold would require an increase of approximately 48%, making institutional demand, network development and macroeconomic conditions important variables.
Ethereum trades at USD 2,658, with a decline of 1.48% in the last 24 hours on September 30 amid volatility across cryptocurrency and global markets. Ethereum has a market capitalization of approximately USD 324.48 billion and a 24-hour trading volume of around USD 14.65 billion.
From USD 2,700, ETH would need to gain roughly USD 1,300, or about 48%, to reach USD 4,000. Such a move would require substantially stronger demand during the remaining months of 2026.
US spot Ethereum ETFs have recently recorded renewed inflows. According to SoSoValue, on September 28, the total net inflow into spot Ethereum ETFs is USD 17.0959 million. The spot Ethereum ETF with the highest single-day net inflow is BlackRock’s ETHA, with a single-day net inflow of USD 15.3539 million; ETHA’s cumulative net inflow to date stands at USD 13.299 billion. Second is 21Shares’ TETH, with a single-day net inflow of USD 1.742 million; TETH’s cumulative net inflow to date is USD 32.8813 million. The week ending on September 25 recorded USD 689.88 million in net inflows.
Sustained ETF inflows can create additional spot-market demand for ETH. However, flows remain volatile: September also included daily outflows of USD 224.1 million on September 16 and USD 142 million on September 15.
Ethereum continues to trade as a risk-sensitive asset. Higher interest rates and Treasury yields can make yield-bearing traditional assets comparatively more attractive while tightening financial conditions.
Conversely, lower yields, improving liquidity and stronger appetite for risk assets could support cryptocurrency valuations. Bitcoin’s direction can also influence ETH since major crypto assets frequently move together during broad market rallies or sell-offs.
Ethereum’s next major upgrade, Glamsterdam, is expected during Q4 2026, although its mainnet activation date has not been confirmed.
The Ethereum Foundation has scheduled Glamsterdam’s Sepolia testnet activation for October 6. The upgrade introduces enshrined proposer-builder separation and block-level access lists, designed to improve block processing and support higher Layer-1 throughput.
Ethereum developers have also established a credible post-Glamsterdam target of a 200 million gas-limit floor, while the current default is around 60 million. These improvements could strengthen Ethereum’s long-term capacity, although protocol upgrades do not guarantee higher ETH prices.
Ethereum reaching USD 4,000 before year-end would require approximately a 48% rally from late-September levels. ETF inflows and Glamsterdam provide potential supportive catalysts, while interest rates and broader crypto sentiment remain important. The USD 4,000 target remains possible, but market conditions will determine whether ETH can generate sufficient momentum.
