One of Marvel’s most feared characters has just done the unthinkable. Carnage, the bloodthirsty symbiote known for chaos and destruction, is now officially part of the Avengers. After 34 years of terrorizing the Marvel Universe, the character who once stood for everything the Avengers fought against is now fighting beside them.
Carnage made his first appearance back in 1992, born from a piece of the Venom symbiote that bonded with serial killer Cletus Kasady. The result was a creature powered by rage, violence, and a thirst for destruction. For years, Carnage was considered one of Spider-Man’s most dangerous enemies, more brutal than Venom and more unpredictable than any other symbiote. Over time, the character pushed beyond street-level crimes, diving into dark magic and cosmic-level power grabs, even trying to become a god.

The change began in the “Venom War” story in 2024. Carnage wanted more power, so he joined with the Darkhold, a magic book with very old and dangerous spells. This made him very powerful, and he fought some of Marvel’s strongest heroes. But when he lost that power, he had to choose between going back to being a villain or trying to become better.
That turning point came with the help of Eddie Brock, the original Venom. Seeing something worth saving in the symbiote, he offered it a chance at redemption. Instead of feeding on hate, the idea was to channel its raw power into something bigger than itself, something meaningful.
The Avengers, always in search of powerful allies to face rising threats, saw a chance. Despite a past soaked in blood, Carnage was invited to join the team. The move raised eyebrows, but it wasn’t without logic. Leading the Avengers now is Bucky Barnes, the former Winter Soldier, who knows a thing or two about second chances. His time heading the Thunderbolts, a group made up of reformed villains, showed that even the darkest paths can lead somewhere new.

Carnage now stands for more than just trying to make up for past mistakes. As a member of the Avengers, he brings huge power to the team, but also shows that even the worst can change. It’s not just about fighting aliens or magical enemies anymore. It’s about giving someone a chance to write a new story after years of doing wrong.
Bringing Carnage into the Avengers is a big risk. Many fans still remember all the terrible things he’s done and feel unsure if he can ever truly change. But some see this as a brave step that could change the way people think about what it means to be a hero.
One thing is clear: this new chapter will be exciting. Carnage, once one of Marvel’s scariest villains, now fights beside some of its greatest heroes. The line between good and evil has never been harder to see.
