Phantom has evolved from a Solana-focused wallet into a broader multichain crypto platform. In 2026, it combines self-custody, token swaps, NFTs, and decentralized app connectivity within mobile and browser interfaces. Its Solana integration remains central, although users can now manage assets across several networks.
Phantom currently supports Solana, Ethereum, Bitcoin, Base, Polygon, HyperEVM, Arc and Robinhood Chain. Users can view tokens and NFTs and connect to compatible applications without manually changing networks.
Solana remains one of Phantom’s strongest integrations. Users can send tokens, interact with Solana applications and swap assets directly inside the wallet. Phantom also supports eligible gasless Solana transactions.
According to Phantom, gasless transactions can deduct network costs from the token being transferred or swapped when users lack enough SOL. Eligible transactions must generally be worth at least USD 0.30. Typical gasless fees can be as low as USD 0.001 for standard transactions, while account-creation transactions may cost around USD 0.20-0.30 and congestion can push costs toward USD 0.50-1.00.
Creating and using Phantom does not involve a standard wallet subscription fee. Blockchain transactions, however, incur network fees paid to validators rather than Phantom.
Phantom recommends keeping around 0.02 SOL available for Solana network costs and approximately 0.002 ETH for Ethereum transactions, although actual fees vary.
Trading inside the wallet can cost more. Phantom charges a 0.85% fee on most swaps, alongside applicable blockchain fees and price impact. Cross-chain transactions can also include bridge or liquidity-provider costs.
Phantom is self-custodial, meaning users control the credentials authorizing access to their assets. Wallets can use a Secret Recovery Phrase, a Google or Apple account, or a PIN as the recovery method.
Phantom warns that anyone obtaining a recovery phrase or private key can control the wallet. Users therefore remain responsible for protecting credentials and avoiding phishing attacks.
For additional protection, Phantom supports several Ledger hardware wallets. Compatible models include Ledger Nano X, Nano S, Nano S Plus, Stax and Flex, depending on whether users connect through mobile or the browser extension.
Despite broader multichain support, Phantom does not support every major blockchain. Its current documentation lists BNB Smart Chain, Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalanche, Unichain and Linea among unsupported networks.
Swap costs are another consideration. A 0.85% Phantom fee can become meaningful on larger trades, while network and price-impact costs can increase the total further.
Phantom remains particularly well integrated with Solana while expanding into a multichain wallet. Its swaps, NFT support and gasless transactions make everyday on-chain activity convenient. However, users should consider swap fees, unsupported networks and the responsibility that comes with self-custody.

1. Is Phantom Wallet only for Solana?
No. Phantom has expanded beyond Solana and currently supports networks including Ethereum, Bitcoin, Base, Polygon, HyperEVM, Arc and Robinhood Chain, while retaining extensive Solana functionality.
2. How much does Phantom Wallet charge for swaps?
Phantom charges a 0.85% fee on most in-wallet swaps. Users may additionally pay blockchain network fees, price impact and bridge or liquidity-provider costs for certain transactions.
3. Is Phantom Wallet self-custodial?
Yes. Phantom is a self-custodial wallet, meaning users control the credentials that authorize access to their crypto. Users are responsible for protecting their recovery method, private keys and account access.
4. Does Phantom support gasless Solana transactions?
Yes, eligible Solana transactions can be completed without maintaining a separate SOL balance for gas. The network cost can instead be deducted from the token involved, subject to Phantom's eligibility requirements.
5. Does Phantom support hardware wallets?
Yes. Phantom supports compatible Ledger hardware wallets, including selected Nano, Stax and Flex models. Hardware-wallet integration can keep signing credentials isolated while users interact with Phantom's browser or mobile interfaces.
