The Meta-owned platform Whatsapp has transformed itself over the past few years with the revolution of technology. From just being a messaging app to being powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, WhatsApp has made several changes to make itself more useful and attractive. In early 2024, WhatsApp introduced the Meta AI chatbot and during December two major new features were introduced as a part of the iOS 24.25.93 update. The feature is currently available only for iOS users and is soon to be launched for Android devices.
In the new iOS update, the user gets to experience the Augmented Reality (AR) affects to customize backgrounds and an easily accessible document scanning tool.
The new features like animated elements such as confetti and stars can now appear on the screen to make interactions funnier. The new dynamic background allows the user to replace their real environment with a custom variable to ensure privacy. There are also some playful tools like the “Goof Face” effect that changes the facial expressions dynamically to give a light-hearted touch. Users can also adjust the video hues with color tone adjustments to make a warm or cool visual based on lighting or personal preference. The touch-up mode also enhances the skin tone by reducing imperfections for a polished look. Lastly, the low-light mode makes the visibility clear in dim settings by auto adjustment of brightness and contrast.
Whatsapp now lets iPhone users scan any documents by using the in-app camera and share it with anyone on the contact list without leaving the app. This feature has proven to be very useful since the users had to previously open any other third-party app to scan, save it in a folder, and then later share it as an attachment with others in the contact list.
The Whatsapp document scanning new feature includes
1. Filters- Colour, grayscale, B/W for enhanced clarity of the document.
2. Automatic Cropping- Automatically adjust the border for better scanning.
3. Auto Shutter- Captures the document automatically when aligned in the viewfinder
With these updates for iOS users, WhatsApp has become more versatile and handy for them. The updates have highlighted how WhatsApp changed itself from just a text messaging app to an all-in-one app powered by the new generation's Artificial Intelligence
