Which is Better: Snapdragon X2 or Intel Core Ultra 3? Full Comparison

Snapdragon X2 and Intel Core Ultra 3 represent two different approaches to modern Windows laptops. Qualcomm's ARM-based platform focuses on efficiency and long battery life, while Intel's x86 platform offers broad software compatibility and strong graphics performance.

The Windows laptop market is witnessing a new processor battle, with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 and Intel’s Core Ultra Series 3 competing for buyers seeking better performance, longer battery life, and modern features.

Snapdragon X2 uses an ARM-based design, while Intel’s Core Ultra Series 3, also known as Panther Lake, continues with the traditional x86 architecture. The choice between them now depends less on brand preference and more on how you plan to use your laptop.

Snapdragon X2 vs Intel Core Ultra 3: Performance

Qualcomm has a clear advantage in multi-core performance in several independent tests. An Asus Zenbook A16 running the Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme scored 1,761 points in Cinebench 2024 multi-core testing, compared with around 1,006 points for a Core Ultra 7 356H laptop. That represents a sizeable lead for Qualcomm in this particular test.

The Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme features up to 18 cores, while Intel’s Core Ultra X9 388H has 16 cores. However, benchmark results can vary significantly depending on the laptop, cooling system, memory, and power limits, so buyers should not treat one test as the final verdict.

Intel has its own strength in graphics. The Core Ultra X9 388H uses Intel Arc B390 graphics, which can be particularly useful for users who need stronger integrated graphics performance.

Battery Life: Intel Closes the Gap

Battery life has traditionally been one of Snapdragon’s biggest advantages. However, that assumption is becoming less reliable. In one PCWorld streaming test, a Core Ultra X9 388H laptop lasted roughly 16.5 hours, compared with about 13 hours and four minutes for a Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme machine. The result shows that Intel’s latest platform has made considerable progress in efficiency.

That does not mean every Intel laptop will last longer. Battery capacity, display resolution, software, and manufacturer tuning continue to make a major difference.

Software Compatibility Still Matters

Windows on ARM has improved considerably, with around 7,000 compatible applications reported in August 2026. Popular programs such as Photoshop, Lightroom, Spotify, Blender and DaVinci Resolve now have ARM versions.

However, some older applications, specialist business software, drivers and games can still create compatibility problems. Intel’s x86 platform therefore remains preferable for people who depend on legacy software or want fewer compatibility concerns.

Which One Should You Buy?

For battery-focused users, frequent travelers, and people who mainly use modern productivity applications, Snapdragon X2 is an attractive option.

For gamers, professionals who use specialized Windows software, and buyers who prioritize broad compatibility, the Intel Core Ultra Series 3 remains the safer bet.

There is also a price difference across current Indian laptops. Snapdragon-powered models start around Rs. 79,990, while Core Ultra Series 3 laptops are available from roughly Rs. 1.18 lakh in the current listings.
