OnePlus 16 leaks point to a 165Hz BOE display and ColorOS 17 ahead of China’s expected September launch. Digital Chat Station shared fresh details on Weibo, highlighting gaming focused upgrades through faster display technology and Android 17 software.
OnePlus has not confirmed the launch date or specifications, while earlier company statements placed the flagship launch during 2026’s second half.
The OnePlus 16 could introduce BOE’s next generation Oriental Screen with a 165Hz refresh rate. The panel aims to improve gaming smoothness while continuing OnePlus’s high refresh rate strategy.
Digital Chat Station said, “OnePlus is leading all other mobile phone manufacturers in popularising ultra-high refresh rates across all scenarios.” The translated quote comes from the tipster’s Weibo post.
The display may also use BOE’s new X4 light emitting material, according to earlier leaks. Reports suggest OnePlus and BOE are working together to customize the material for the upcoming flagship. Earlier reports also pointed to a 6.78 inch flat panel with very slim symmetrical bezels.
Software could mark another major change for the OnePlus 16. The phone may arrive with ColorOS 17, based on Android 17, instead of ColorOS 16. The new software could bring updated system animations and tighter OPPO ecosystem integration. OnePlus has also confirmed a wider move toward ColorOS 17 for eligible devices.
Other leaked specifications include a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset and a 9,000mAh battery. A 200 megapixel telephoto camera also appears in earlier reports, although OnePlus has not confirmed these details.
The expected China price could start near CNY 4,999 for 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. The pricing remains unconfirmed until OnePlus announces the flagship officially.
