Elon Musk has announced that Grok Imagine will make a full-length AI movie based on Homer's The Odyssey before the end of 2026. He shared the update on X on Wednesday along with a short AI-made video and said the film would stay true to Homer's original story.
Musk announced this while Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey continues to perform strongly at the global box office. The film has received a huge response from audiences even after weeks of online debate over its casting.
In his X post, Musk said, "Before this year ends, Grok Imagine will make a full-length movie of The Odyssey that is historically accurate and true to the art of Homer." The video shared with the post was created by an X user using Grok Imagine.
Musk has criticized Nolan's film since early reports about the cast appeared online. He questioned the casting of Lupita Nyong'o and also reacted to rumors about Elliot Page playing Achilles. However, reports later confirmed that Page plays Sinon and not Achilles.
Christopher Nolan dismissed the criticism before the film's release. He said, "These conversations that happen before people see the film are always irrelevant, because no one having them knows what the film actually is yet."
The online debate has not affected the movie's performance. The Odyssey earned $264.1 million worldwide in its opening weekend. It became Christopher Nolan's biggest global opening and one of the biggest movie launches of 2026.
