Apple has made its latest Mac Studio designs public. They include the M4 Max and the newly released M3 Ultra processor chips. These system improvements target professional users who work in animation, and design fields as well as music production professionals.
The M4 Max, first introduced with the MacBook Pro, includes a 14 core CPU and up to a 40 core GPU. It supports 128GB of memory and offers half a terabyte per second of unified memory bandwidth. The M4 Max also features Apple’s latest graphics architecture with hardware-accelerated mesh shading and an updated Ray Tracing engine.
For those needing even more power, Apple introduced the M3 Ultra. Built from two M3 Max chips, it delivers a 32-core CPU and an 80-core GPU. It starts with 96GB of memory and can be configured up to 512 GB. Storage options go up to 16TB.
Apple performed a demonstration of Autodesk Flame software, a visual effects and color grading software on the M4 Max platform. The system operated through various complex situations smoothly and controlled multiple layers of elements without any degradation in its performance. Another demo showcased the M3 Ultra running Cinema 4D. The system quickly placed thousands of objects in a 3D scene using an AI-powered script and rendered it in seconds.
A demonstration of the M3 Ultra running Cyberpunk 2077 showcased its built-in Ray Tracing technology feature. The game showed exquisite graphics combined with accurate reflection effects, which gave the experience an immersive, atmospheric feel. When released for Mac in 2025, it will support Path Tracing for even better graphics.
Both models include Thunderbolt 5 for faster data transfer. The base Mac Studio with M4 Max starts at $1,999 while the M3 Ultra model starts at $3,999. Pre-orders are available now and with shipping set for March 12.
