Apple is preparing a major upgrade to Apple Music. The iOS 27 update will bring artificial intelligence features into Apple Music search, playback, and library management. The goal is to simplify finding and enjoying music faster and more personally.

Smarter Search and Recommendations

The biggest change is the introduction of natural language search. Instead of typing an exact song or artist name, users can type phrases like 'play relaxing songs for a rainy evening' or 'find upbeat workout music.' Apple Music will then pull up matching tracks. The system is designed to understand casual, conversational requests, making it easier to discover new songs without knowing exactly what to search for.

Recommendations are also getting smarter. The app will study listening habits over time and learn favorite artists, genres, and moods. Based on this, it will suggest playlists and albums suited to each listener. Playback is improving too. A new AutoMix feature will blend songs with smoother transitions, giving the experience a DJ-style feel.'

Better Tools for Global Listeners

Apple Music is adding features for listeners who enjoy songs in other languages. Live lyric translation will let users understand what a song means while it plays. A pronunciation guide will help them sing along correctly, even in unfamiliar languages.

Library organization is getting an update as well. Playlist folders will let users group and sort their collections more easily, which should help anyone with a large or growing music library.

These updates reflect Apple's wider effort to add AI across its devices and apps. By combining smart search, personalized recommendations, and easier organization, the company wants Apple Music to feel less like a simple streaming app and more like a music assistant that understands its listener.

The new features are expected to launch alongside iOS 27 later this year on supported iPhones.
