From Defense to Disaster Response: Suhora Technologies' Rupesh Kumar on AI-Powered Space Solutions

Unlocking the Potential of Space Data: CTO of Suhora Technologies Talks About AI's Role in Sustainability

Written By : Market Trends

New developments in the space industry and cloud computing are creating opportunities to improve lives significantly. Space data can accelerate progress on the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals, such as mapping poverty and enhancing food security. However, leveraging this potential requires AI to turn large datasets into actionable insights.

In this episode of the Analytics Insight Podcast, host Priya Dialani speaks with Rupesh Kumar, CTO and Co-Founder of Suhora Technologies. Founded in 2018 in Noida by Mr. Kumar along with Krishanu Acharya and Amit Kumar, Suhora is on a mission to simplify space analytics and make satellite data accessible for all.

Making Satellite Data Useful for Everyone

Traditionally, satellite imagery and geospatial insights were limited to government agencies and elite institutions. Today, constellations of low-Earth-orbit satellites generate petabytes of data daily. Suhora’s vision is to democratize this resource. “Our mission is simple, space analytics simplified,” Mr. Kumar explains. “We want to break down complex satellite data into clear insights that drive decision-making across industries, ” he adds.

Spade Platform: Joystick for Satellites

At the heart of Suhora Technologies’ offering is the Spade (Space Platform for Exploration of Data) platform, a multi-sensor integration system. It allows users to access and task satellites directly, offering data types such as optical, thermal, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), RF, and AIS. Users can draw an Area of Interest (AOI), order data from upcoming satellite passes, and download processed insights, even over low bandwidth, thanks to advanced compression algorithms.

“Spade is like a joystick for satellites. You can request data for any location, task satellites in advance, and receive actionable insights on the fly through AI-powered processing,” says Mr. Kumar. The platform is available via a SaaS subscription starting at $5,000, making it cost-effective for businesses, researchers, and governments alike.

Beyond Spade: Specialized Platforms for Defense and Disaster Management

The company has also built Mirka, designed for national security and defense applications, and focused on disaster management and incident response. Together, these platforms showcase Suhora Technologies' holistic approach to applying AI and satellite data for real-world challenges.

A CTO’s Journey in Building Space-Tech Solutions

As the CTO and Co-Founder, Rupesh Kumar leads Suhora’s technology strategy with over 17 years of expertise in defense and space applications. His background in mission-critical software development and AI-driven analytics enables the company to harmonize diverse satellite data sources into a consistent, user-friendly view.

“I design our core platform architecture, lead AI initiatives, and ensure scalability so that as data and customers grow, the system keeps working seamlessly,” Mr. Kumar shares. His co-founders bring complementary strengths, Krishanu Acharya in global satellite business development and Amit Kumar in operations. Together, they are pushing the boundaries of how AI and space data intersect.

Conclusion: Democratizing the Space Frontier with AI

By integrating advanced AI algorithms with satellite data, Suhora Technologies is making space analytics accessible beyond governments and institutions. From defense and disaster management to agriculture and urban planning, the applications are limitless. As Mr. Kumar notes, “We are essentially bridging the gap between raw satellite data and practical business applications.”
