How to Block Spam Calls & SMS on iPhone and Android

Simran Mishra

Spam calls and fake SMS are rising fast. Luckily, both iPhone and Android offer built-in tools to block unknown callers, filter spam texts, and protect your personal data from scammers and robocalls.

On iPhone, go to Settings → Phone → Silence Unknown Callers and turn it on. Calls from numbers not saved in your contacts will go directly to voicemail without disturbing you.

To stop spam texts on iPhone, open Settings → Messages → Filter Unknown Senders. Messages from unknown numbers move into a separate inbox, helping you avoid phishing links and fake delivery scams.

Android users can open the Phone app → Settings → Spam Protection and enable Caller ID & Spam. This feature automatically detects suspicious calls and can block spam numbers before they ring.

For spam SMS on Android, open Google Messages → Settings → Spam Protection → Enable Spam Protection. Your phone will warn you about suspicious texts and move dangerous messages away from your main inbox.

Apps like Truecaller, Hiya, and YouMail add stronger protection with caller ID, robocall blocking, and real-time scam alerts for both Android and iPhone users.

For maximum protection, combine built-in phone settings, carrier spam filters, and trusted apps. In India, you can also activate TRAI DND by sending START 0 to 1909 to reduce promotional spam calls and SMS.
