Arrowmax Arrowspace S1: The AI Screwdriver That Finds the Right Bit

Santosh Kadali

Arrowspace S1: The Arrowspace S1 is Arrowmax’s compact electric screwdriver designed for precision work on electronics, watches, eyewear, and drones. It combines a rechargeable motor, adjustable power settings, an OLED display, and AI-based screw recognition to reduce guesswork during repairs.

Built-in HD Camera: A tiny HD camera and LED light sit at the screwdriver’s tip area to capture a clear image of the screw head. A retractable contact probe rests against the surface, holding the camera at the correct distance for accurate recognition.

AI Screw Recognition: Arrowmax’s machine-learning model analyzes the captured image to determine the screw’s drive type and size. The company says it trained the system using tens of thousands of real-world screw photos, helping it distinguish between many fastener designs.

Smartphone App: The identified screw information appears in a companion smartphone app, which also provides controls for torque, gear mode, and other settings. AI processing happens locally on the connected phone, so the tool does not require an internet connection.

Automatic Torque Control: After recognizing the screw, the S1 automatically selects a recommended torque setting. This is intended to prevent overtightening, stripping, or damaging delicate fasteners—especially useful when repairing small gadgets and precision devices.

S1 Smart Case: The optional Smart Case stores 52 steel bits and uses individual LED indicators to show which bit the AI recommends. It also includes a 2-inch display that shows screw details, so users can quickly locate the correct attachment.

Availability and Pricing: The Arrowspace S1 is currently offered through Kickstarter, with early pricing starting around $79 for the screwdriver and about $129 with the 52-bit Smart Case. Deliveries are expected from April 2027, subject to normal crowdfunding risks.
