Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra, its biggest tablet to date, sports a 14-inch OLED screen and the new in-house Xring O1 chipset. It seems to be quite an upgrade from the Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro, which have smaller IPS LCDs. The Pad 7 Ultra is aimed at people wanting high-end performance and a larger viewing space.

Display and Design

Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra has a 14-inch OLED display with a 3:2 aspect ratio, offering 12-bit color, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision. It peaks at 1,600 nits maximum brightness, which is double that of its siblings. The screen's refresh rate is at 120Hz and is covered by Gorilla Glass 5. The screen does have a notch containing a 32MP selfie camera, a change from earlier models.

Performance and Hardware

Driven by the Xring O1 chipset designed by Xiaomi, the tablet incorporates a 3nm process. The 10-core CPU operates at a peak clock speed of 3.7GHz, and it incorporates a feature-rich ARM Immortalis-G925 GPU along with a 6-core NPU that supports 44 TOPS-level AI processing. It comes in capacities from 256GB to 1TB, coupled with up to 16GB LPDDR5T RAM, making multitasking seamless and storage effortless.

Features and Connectivity

The Pad 7 Ultra has a big 12,000mAh battery with 120W fast charging capabilities. Additionally, it has USB 3.2 Gen 2 transfer speeds, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and an IR blaster for smart home control. There’s a fingerprint sensor built into the power button. The tablet runs Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2 with an emphasis on productivity, with office apps and CAD apps pre-loaded.

Accessories and Pricing

An optional magnesium alloy keyboard adds to productivity with large keys and a pressure-sensitive touchpad. Pricing for the tablet begins at CNY 5,700 (approximately $790) for the 12GB/256GB variant. The higher storage variants include a nano-texture glass option for minimizing glare.

Pre-orders have been enabled in China, positioning the Pad 7 Ultra as a premium option in the Xiaomi tablet series. As of now, the tablet is only available in China.

Final Takeaway

The Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra raises the bar with its large-size OLED touchscreen display, top-quality proprietary processor, and productivity features. Based on specifications and price, it serves an audience that wants a mobile tablet that is easy to use and performant.

Xiaomi is challenging the waters with what they offer, but the Pad 7 Ultra is certainly indicative of a higher level of ambition in the tablet market.
