Artificial intelligence has made a massive impact across various sectors, including healthcare, retail, finance, education, manufacturing, and software development. While these industries often dominate the headlines, it's worth noting that AI has also entered the fashion industry. It is now capable of generating AI models that look incredibly realistic.

Recently, a two-page Guess advertisement published in Vogue’s latest issue caught the attention of fashion enthusiasts and models. Social media was flooded with critical comments and even calls to stop supporting the magazine.

AI Model in Guess Ad: A Few Concerned, Many Relieved

The two-page advertisement showcased a blonde model created using artificial intelligence. In one photo, she held a cup of coffee while wearing a light blue outfit. In another photo, she leaned against a wall dressed in a completely different outfit, holding a Guess bag that matched her attire. The consistency of the AI model’s appearance across both images is truly impressive.

However, using this advanced technology in a high-profile fashion publication has caused an uproar, and it is currently trending as the ‘Vogue August Issue.’

Mixed reactions from Vogue readers on AI models

While some people have expressed their disapproval and concerns over AI Models, others are optimistic and view the whole issue in a positive light.

Felicity Hayward, a renowned model and a prominent name in the fashion industry for over a decade now, has shared her views on how AI models might affect the fashion industry. Hayward said that such use of AI will deprive makeup artists, set designers, and other creative staff members of their jobs.

On the other hand, AI appears to be streamlining tasks that were once time-consuming. Determining whether the use of AI models is fair cannot be decided immediately. However, it is clear that this technology is evolving rapidly, and this situation is just a small indication of that progress. The best approach is to stay informed about the advancements in artificial intelligence.
