The United States President Donald Trump is preparing for an important conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping to settle a TikTok deal that would allow the app to keep running in the United States. Trump believes TikTok played a big part in his election campaign, especially in reaching younger voters.

In a recent interview, Trump said that Charlie Kirk encouraged him to join the app. He explained that Kirk told him TikTok could connect with young people in a way no Republican had managed before. Trump credited that advice for helping him gain strong support from youth during the election.

Trump Sees TikTok as Political and Economic Power

Trump also sounded hopeful about the talks with Xi. He said both sides are close to an agreement and suggested that China has already signaled approval. According to him, the final plan will put TikTok’s US business under American ownership. He described the investors involved as “the biggest, the richest,” and said they would protect the app’s future.

For Trump, the value of TikTok goes beyond politics. He described it as a platform with many economic possibilities. He stressed that keeping the company in American hands would bring “very substantial” financial benefits and keep young users satisfied.

Deal Linked to Broader US–China Relations

The White House sees the deal as a step forward in broader US-China talks. Officials said the agreement could ease tensions over technology, trade, and security. Trump also mentioned the chance of extending the current deal if needed and hinted at meeting Xi in person soon.

Still, lawmakers in Washington remain cautious. Some want clearer guarantees that China will not influence TikTok’s data or content. National security considerations remain the subject of debate.

The outcome of the TikTok deal could affect not only social media but also future rules on foreign technology companies in America. Trump’s words also highlight how a simple app once used for campaign videos has grown into a major point in global diplomacy.
