Sridhar Vembu, co-founder and Chief Scientist, has now shared details about the engineering aspects of Arattai, the Chennai-based company's in-house messaging and calling application.
According to a Mint report, Vembu, in an X post, emphasized the ‘seemingly simple interface’ of Arattai. He stressed that the Indian messaging app has been entirely built atop significant research and development. Vembu stated that the app is capable of handling large volumes of real-time communication without compromising the user experience.
Arattai’s messaging and audio-visual capabilities are powered by Zoho’s custom-built AV framework, refined over 15 years. This system enables fast, crisp calls and meetings. Moreover, Zoho’s distributed computing framework, perfected over 20 years, ensures efficient workload distribution, fault tolerance, and robust security. The same infrastructure supports multiple Zoho products, reinforcing the company’s cloud ecosystem.
The co-founder and Chief Scientist acknowledged the hard work of the Zoho Arattai team, which had worked on the app for over five years. He compared a discipline in engineering to a practiced discipline in spirituality, highlighting the use of focus and persistence. He also indicated that users can look forward to further innovations from Zoho as he fully invests himself in research and development.
