Sonos has added a feature that fans have wanted since 2013. The new Presets tool lets users start music in chosen rooms with one tap. It began rolling out on November 3, 2026. Sonos is also preparing 27voice, an optional AI voice assistant that processes voice requests through cloud-based servers.
Users can save their music, their speakers, and the volume for each room. Every preset sits in its own section on the Home screen of the Sonos app. People can save up to 50 presets and use them on any phone or tablet signed in to their account.
The feature has limits. It saves music playback only. It cannot save settings like switching to TV audio or muting every speaker. Presets also do not work with voice commands or the Sonos web app. Both Presets and 27voice need S2 speakers running Sonos 27.
27voices understand more natural speech. It handles follow-up requests, music tips, weather questions, and general knowledge. Classic Sonos Voice Control handles requests on the device. 27 voices do not. After it hears the wake word, it sends the request to Sonos servers. For some open-ended questions, it also uses outside AI models.
The system collects voice recordings, transcripts, command details, device IDs, and usage data with names removed. Some of this data may go to the US or to outside AI companies.
The audio brand says it deletes recordings and transcripts once a request is done. It also says it does not use recordings to train AI or sell them. But going back to Classic Voice Control does not erase data collected earlier.
US customers can ask for early access from November 6. Access starts November 12. A wider release is planned for 2027.

The AI assistant is optional. Users can stay on Classic Voice Control or leave 27voice whenever they like. That means anyone can use presets without sending their voice to the cloud.
