Snapchat is joining hands with HBO Max to bring Harry Potter magic to its users. Starting on September 2, 2026, Snapchat users will be able to access new AR Lenses, Chat Wallpapers, Bitmoji fashion, an app icon, and in-person AR experiences at events.
The move comes ahead of the new Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone series. Snapchat will roll out 12 AR Lenses during the season. These will give fans new ways to create Harry Potter-themed Snaps and share them with friends. The first Lens is already live on the official Harry Potter Snapchat account. The best part is that these Lenses will arrive throughout the season, while the other features will roll out as the season moves forward.
Regarding this collaboration with Snapchat, HBO and Max Originals Marketing, Andrew Meengern, mentioned, “As we introduce a new generation to the wizarding world through the HBO Original series, Snapchat is an incredible partner to help extend that sense of discovery beyond the screen, giving fans new ways to engage with the story and bring a bit of that magic into their everyday lives.”
Continuing the similar tone, Anmol Malhotra, Global Head of Content and Partnerships, Snap Inc. expressed, “With HBO Max, we’re building AR experiences and creative tools that give Snapchatters new ways to show off their House pride, put themselves into the world of Harry Potter, and have a little fun with friends as they watch the series.”
The new features are aimed at fans who want more than just another filter. Users can bring Harry Potter-inspired effects to their Snaps and dress their Bitmoji in outfits from the wizarding world. AR Mirrors will be available at fan events in the US and UK. Visitors can use them to try virtual clothes and accessories based on their Hogwarts House. Focus on how AR lets fans interact with the wizarding world rather than simply watch the show.
The Snapchat and HBO Max partnership gives Harry Potter fans a fresh way to enjoy the franchise. With 12 Lenses and more features arriving during the season, the wizarding world is set to become part of everyday Snaps.
