ServiceNow layoffs have cut several hundred jobs during a restructuring program. The software company said the changes affect a ‘low single-digit’ workforce percentage. The cuts follow earlier comments from CEO Bill McDermott about keeping 2026 headcount broadly flat. ServiceNow ended 2025 with 29,187 full-time employees.

ServiceNow Layoffs Target Global Operations

ServiceNow said it continues reviewing its structure to place suitable talent in needed roles. The company linked the layoffs to operational efficiency and disciplined workforce management. It did not disclose the exact number of affected workers. However, a ‘low single-digit’ percentage would equal several hundred positions.

McDermott previously said ServiceNow expected to finish 2026 with roughly its starting employee count. This plan allows the company to cut selected roles while hiring elsewhere. ServiceNow said it is adding workers with AI-focused skills as it changes internal operations. The company also continues investing in artificial intelligence products and services.

Company filings show ServiceNow employed 14,601 people in the United States at the end of 2025. Another 14,586 employees worked outside the country. ServiceNow has not stated how the latest cuts divide between domestic and international operations.

ServiceNow said the reductions occurred over several months rather than through one single announcement. The company has not issued a public schedule covering every affected office or team. ServiceNow has not detailed regional totals, severance dates, consultation rules, or openings tied to its AI recruitment plans across markets.

Employees Describe Sudden Separation Notices

Some employees said they received little warning before ServiceNow informed them about their departures. One Reddit user claimed a separation notice reached a personal email account at 6:53 a.m. The worker said July 28 marked the final working day. However, the notice reportedly listed September 28 as the formal termination date.

Another employee in Dublin described a morning call about possible layoffs. The worker said organizers disabled cameras and audio during the meeting. They also reportedly hid the attendance list. The employee said a consultation period would follow, with more details expected by email. ServiceNow has not publicly confirmed those individual accounts.

Other Reddit posts suggested the layoffs could reach more teams and countries. One user claimed “around 3,000” workers could lose their jobs globally. The post also said teams in India faced early action. ServiceNow has not confirmed that figure, and the claim remains unverified.

ServiceNow Shifts Hiring Toward AI Skills

ServiceNow said it is removing some positions while expanding recruitment for AI-related work. The company described the restructuring as part of efforts to improve efficiency. It also said it would manage total headcount carefully through the end of 2026.

The company recently raised its annual subscription revenue forecast after stronger demand for AI-based software. Its second-quarter subscription revenue reached $3.88 billion. ServiceNow also reported adjusted earnings of 90 cents per share. Those results met or exceeded market expectations.

The layoffs come during a wider period of job reductions across the technology industry. Layoffs.fyi has counted more than 120,000 tech job losses during 2026. Companies have cited restructuring, cost controls, changing demand and AI investment when announcing workforce cuts.

ServiceNow has not provided a full breakdown by country, department or seniority level. It has also not released detailed severance terms for all affected workers. Employees in some regions may enter consultation processes before final decisions. The company continues hiring for selected roles while reducing positions in other business areas.
