CD Projekt Red, the studio behind The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077, is expanding its team for Project Hadar, its first completely new IP. The company’s latest job listings point to growing work on gameplay, quests, NPC behaviour, level design, visual effects and quality assurance.

Project Hadar Enters a New Development Phase

Project Hadar remains in the early stages, but CD Projekt Red is steadily building the teams needed to turn the concept into a full game. The studio’s careers page describes the project as a new universe being created from the ground up, with developers expected to help shape its identity and direction.

The hiring push suggests CD Projekt Red is moving beyond initial concept work and expanding its focus on core game systems. The studio is currently seeking specialists across several areas, including gameplay design, quest design, NPC technology, level design, VFX and QA.

NPC Behavior Becomes a Key Focus

One of the more notable openings is for a Lead Gameplay Engineer focused on NPC behavior. The role involves building and leading a team responsible for NPC community and behavior technology. It will also require close collaboration with designers, writers, animators and other engineers.

This could point to a greater emphasis on dynamic characters and believable interactions within the game's world. However, CD Projekt Red did not reveal specific gameplay mechanics or explain how these systems will work in the final product.
