The company stated that the change in pricing reflects a shift in how people consume content. According to a recent survey, more households are moving to connected TVs and multi-device viewing. Keeping this in mind, JioHotstar states that large-screen consumption has grown sharply over the past year. It has led to aligning prices with home-based streaming habits.
The platform has crossed one billion downloads on Google Play and serves over 450 million monthly active users across India. JioHotstar clarified that existing subscribers will continue at their current prices as long as auto-renewal is active.
