Pokémon GO players will soon get another chance to hunt Phantump. September 2026 marks the beginning of a new Pokémon Season, named Twilight Trials, and the Phantump hunt event will be a part of the season. In an official post, the developer team mentioned this arrival with a caption, “Phantump, the Stump Pokémon, will appear in Field Research, free Timed Research, and more during this Catch Mastery event!”
The Phantump Catch Mastery event will start on September 26, 10:00 am to 8:00 pm local time. During the designated hours, Phantump will appear more often, giving players plenty of chances to catch it. The Shiny version will also have a higher chance of appearing. There’s another surprise for players. The paid Timed Research missions for the event will cost players USD 1.99 and grant additional Phantump encounters to help players farm the bonus XP and Candy for the event.
The event is mainly about catching Phantump repeatedly. Players can use the extra encounters to collect more Candy and work towards evolving Phantump into Trevenant. The short event window means players will need to make good use of those three hours. Apart from this, the new season will bring several other new Pokemon, including Maschiff, Mega Staraptor, and Mega Chandelure.
The boosted Shiny odds are likely to be the biggest draw. Shiny Phantump is a prized find, and more encounters mean players have more chances to come across one. Collectors can also use the event to build their Phantump collection. Extra Candy can help with evolutions, while repeated catches give players more Pokémon to check for better stats.
