US-born AI-powered search engine Perplexity has launched a new Finance tab for Indian users. It will provide free access to real-time market information, company earnings data, and cryptocurrency reports. The feature is meant to democratize high-quality financial data, making it available to casual market observers as well as experienced investors.
Offering its services across desktop, mobile web, and mobile apps, Perplexity Finance offers AI-driven summaries, in-depth analytics. It also features real-time stock prices of BSE and NSE equities, historical data downloads, financial statements with Excel output, and explanations for significant price movements.
Perplexity Finance also offers bull and bear case analyses on major market themes, with live earnings coverage already offered for some Indian stocks. Additional features such as natural-language stock screening and price alerts are under development. "We offer this data to all users for free," Perplexity's Head of Live Events Product, Jeff Grimes, stated. "A lot of it is behind paywalls elsewhere."
A likely collaboration with Indian brokerage giant Zerodha might further boost the proposition. A recent social media exchange between the company’s CEO, Aravind Srinivas, and Zerodha cofounder Nikhil Kamath suggested cooperation after a user asked to include Indian markets on Perplexity's Comet finance page. Srinivas mentioned Kamath, inquiring, "Should we?" Kamath responded, "Absolutely, schedule a call for Monday."
If sealed, the deal would merge Perplexity's AI-powered market intelligence with Zerodha's trading infrastructure. This would substantially enhance access to actionable financial data for India's expanding retail investor population. Investors are hopeful regarding this new development.
