Oracle started another round of layoffs, with affected employees receiving termination emails early Monday, September 14. The Oracle layoffs targeted staff in the United States, while reports also raised concerns about possible cuts in India. Employees first lost access to internal systems before receiving formal notices.

The termination process began around 4 am for some employees, when Oracle disabled federated logins. Slack access reportedly stopped between 5 am and 5:30 am, followed by emails around 6 am. The message said, “Today is your last working day.”

The termination email came from “Oracle Leadership” and described the cuts as part of a ‘broader organisational change.’ Oracle said current business needs led to the elimination of affected roles. The company did not provide individual reasons for each termination.

The email also thanked employees for their contributions and outlined the next steps. Affected Oracle employees had to complete termination paperwork before receiving information about their severance package. Oracle planned to send those details through DocuSign.

The company also instructed affected staff to submit personal email addresses for future separation documents. Oracle warned employees against downloading, copying, retaining, or forwarding confidential company information. System access would remain unavailable after the termination process.

US employees reportedly receive four weeks of base pay, plus another week for every completed year of service. The earlier reported cap for the Oracle severance package stands at 26 weeks.

The latest Oracle layoffs come as the company sharply increases spending on AI infrastructure. Oracle already reduced its workforce by about 21,000 employees, representing roughly 13% of its fiscal 2026 workforce.

Oracle also expects restructuring costs to reach about USD 2.8 billion after adding another USD 700 million to its estimate. The company continues funding large data center projects while expanding its AI and cloud operations.

Oracle reported strong cloud growth despite the workforce cuts. Cloud infrastructure revenue jumped 121% to USD 7.4 billion during fiscal 2027's first quarter. The contrast highlights Oracle's current strategy of cutting costs while accelerating AI infrastructure investment.
