Doug Bowser, President and Chief Operating Officer of Nintendo of America, has announced his retirement as of December 31, 2025. Bowser has led the company through many big moments, from the original Nintendo Switch launch to the record-breaking Switch 2.
During Bowser's leadership, Nintendo of America (NOA) achieved several milestones. The Switch 2 sold more than any other console during the first days of launch and became the fastest-selling console in US history.
Bowser also marketed Nintendo in movies, theme parks, and through several other fun experiences for the fans. Bowser’s amiable nature and his familiarity with the gaming culture gained him popularity among both employees and fans alike.
Starting January 1, 2026, Devon Pritchard will take over as the first female president of Nintendo of America. Pritchard has worked at Nintendo for 19 years. She has led sales, marketing, and customer experience. Her promotion from NOA’s Vice President is a historic moment for Nintendo, which is focused on ensuring that its leadership is strong yet diverse.
Alongside Pritchard, Satoru Shibata will join Nintendo of America as Chief Executive Officer while retaining his roles at Nintendo Co., Ltd. This new leadership aims to continue Nintendo's expansion, growth, success, and glories in the arena of gaming.
Doug Bowser said he feels proud of the achievements during his time at Nintendo. He believes Pritchard will take the company even higher. He called her a talented leader who has contributed a lot to Nintendo’s success.
