The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to be a highly sought-after console, with its global demand expected to shatter multiple sales records. The console's advanced features and enhanced graphics have generated significant hype. E-commerce platforms are anticipated to play a crucial role in distributing the console and Nintendo games, catering to the massive demand.
Despite the immense hype surrounding the Nintendo Switch 2, it was notably absent from Amazon US's listings. When pre-orders commenced, console stocks were made available at various US retailers, but not on this e-commerce giant. A recent Bloomberg report has provided insight into the reasons behind Amazon's prolonged exclusion from the console's distribution list.
Gamers must have noticed that a lot of Nintendo products, including the Nintendo Switch 2, aren’t yet listed on the biggest e-commerce platform. The curiosity is normal, and according to a Bloomberg report, Nintendo has taken a big step by pulling its products from Amazon US, following a dispute over unauthorized sales by third-party sellers.
As per the report, Nintendo has noticed third-party merchants selling its games in the US at lower prices than what the company sets. They used to buy these products from Southeast Asia and export them to the US. As a result, the company has decided not to sell its products through Amazon in the US.
The report further stated that Amazon has tried solving this dispute by adding authenticity tags to ease Nintendo’s concerns over unauthorized imports. However, Nintendo didn’t agree to this. Consequently, Switch 2 consoles listed as ‘sold by Amazon’ have disappeared from Amazon’s U.S. storefront.

From the beginning of 2025, gamers must have noticed the lack of Nintendo games on Amazon US. In the last year, most first-party Nintendo titles were absent from Amazon US. To date, upcoming Nintendo games aren’t listed on the platform.
None of the parties ever said anything regarding this issue, but as the media coverage came to light, Nintendo appeared with an official denial statement. In an interview, a Nintendo spokesperson mentioned, “There is no such fact.” He emphasizes that the company never discloses details of negotiations or contracts with retailers.
Similarly, Amazon also claimed that the Bloomberg report is inaccurate and stated that they will be “pleased to offer Nintendo products directly to our customers.” Interestingly, the Nintendo products, like the Switch 2, are currently unavailable on Amazon US, but other countries can access them through Amazon. This indicates the problem is specifically in the US market.
Whether the dispute between Nintendo and Amazon is true or not isn’t yet sure. Now that both parties denied the claim, it’s hard to verify the truth. However, the unavailability of Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo games on Amazon US highlights that there must be something wrong between these two companies.
This conflict between Nintendo and Amazon highlights the challenges that manufacturers often face while trying to control product pricing across global online marketplaces. Despite the official denial, the unsolved tension is very prominent in the actions. Until this issue is resolved and players come to a solution, US gamers have to look beyond Amazon for the Nintendo Switch 2 console and first-party Nintendo games.
