At this year’s 2024 Game Awards, Naughty Dog unveiled a brand new video game called ‘Intergalactic: "The Heretic Prophet." This title was unveiled as part of a major change in direction for the studio best known for its narrative-driven franchises like “The Last of Us” and “Uncharted.” In a sci-fi universe, the game moves away from the high-tech aesthetics of space adventures, offering a more rugged and retro-futuristic vibe.
Under the creative direction of Neil Druckmann, "Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet’ familiarises players with Jordan Munn – a bounty hunter navigating the perils of a distant planet. The game has a contrastive theme of modern technology, aged technology, and the CRT-like monitor, which sets the mood and thus stands out from the vast number of space-based games. In regards to the protagonist, the fans are going to be happy with the recognition of Troy Baker, who played the protagonist of the game “The Last of Us.”
The main character, Jordan, pursues criminal association, better known as the The Five Aces. Having been deserted on an alien planet inhabited by killer robots, she must use her wits and survival skills to survive in this unfriendly environment. The storyline combines action and drama through the efforts of director Druckmann.
"Intergalactic: “The Heretic Prophet” was announced in 2020 and marks Naughty Dog’s first new IP in over a decade. The future version of this game will build on the new features of the PlayStation 5, which guarantees the quality of graphics and gameplay. The music, produced by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, provides complex and intriguing auditory landscapes for the player to engage with.
As for this title, a release has not been set however, there is a high level of expectation for such a game. It was officially revealed at the Game Awards and offered a glimpse at the game’s setting and the plot that players will experience.
