Meta onboards Indian-origin technology executive Chirantan “CJ” Desai as its Chief Enterprise Platform Officer, placing him at the centre of the company’s new push into enterprise artificial intelligence. Desai will report directly to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and lead the newly launched Meta Enterprise Platform.
The appointment comes just days after Desai stepped down as president and CEO of MongoDB. He had taken charge of the database software company in November 2025. MongoDB appointed former CEO Dev Ittycheria as interim chief executive while it searches for a permanent successor.
Meta Enterprise Platform marks a new business direction for the company as it seeks to take its AI capabilities beyond consumer-facing products. The platform will offer businesses and developers access to Meta’s AI models, agents and infrastructure.
The initial portfolio includes Muse, Meta Business Agent, Muse API and Muse Code. Meta has not yet disclosed pricing or provided a broader timetable for the platform’s rollout.
Meta said, “ The new enterprise business will combine its AI models and agents with its large-scale infrastructure and experience working with businesses.” The company also said security and privacy will remain integral to its enterprise products.
Desai brings more than three decades of experience across enterprise software, cloud computing, cybersecurity, infrastructure and product development.
He began his technology career at Oracle in 1995 before holding senior positions at Pivotal, Symantec and EMC. He joined ServiceNow in 2016 and eventually became president and COO. In 2024, he moved to Cloudflare as president of product and engineering before taking over as MongoDB CEO in 2025.
Meta’s enterprise push comes as technology companies increasingly seek commercial applications for generative AI and AI agents. For Meta, the Enterprise Platform creates a dedicated route to sell these capabilities to businesses alongside its established advertising and consumer products. Desai will oversee that effort while reporting directly to Zuckerberg.
