Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 Update: A Whopping 59.6GB Download Ahead!

Marvel Rivals Mid-Season Update Wants Players To Reinstall The Entire Game Once Again

Written By : Antara

It’s time for Marvel Rivals players to get prepared for a new patch note. Marvel Rivals is one of the massively hit hero-shooter games released in 2024. After its initial release in November 2024, NetEase Games launched two back-to-back seasons. The second season was kicked off in April 2025. So, it's time for the mid-season update.

This highly anticipated mid-season update is almost here, with the Season 2.5 patch ready to release on May 30, 2025. However, the most shocking part appears when players get to know that this update demands a 59.6GB download and takes the total size of the game to approximately 73.7 GB.

Marvel Rivals: A Massive Update with Extensive Content

The upcoming mid-season update of Marvel Rivals will bring loads of new content for sure. After the massive success of Season 2: Hellfire Gala, the expectations from the mid-season update have heightened further. NetEase Games promises to bring new heroes, skins, and gameplay upgrades to make the game more engaging for the fans.

When players are all buzzing over the new season’s content, a trusted leaker, X0X_LEAK, has highlighted the download size in a post on his X handle (previously Twitter).

The massive download size is probably the result of the developers’ approach to overwriting most of the game files with significant updates, which will lead players to go for nearly a reinstallation. This approach is nothing new to Marvel Rivals players. They have witnessed the same previously in Season 2. NetEase Games implemented this same method in Season 2 to ensure the integration of new assets and anti-modding measures.

Marvel Rivals Patch 2.5: Introduction of New Characters and Map

A season means loads of new content. Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 is going to introduce Ultron as a playable character. To be precise, a playable Strategist hero. Expectedly, this new hero character will come with his unique aerial mechanics, including the Dynamic Flight ability and the Encephalo-Ray attack.

Additionally, this upcoming mid-season update will bring the Arakko map, which will be rich in lore to add depth to the game’s narrative. Beyond that, this season brings significant adjustments to the abilities of the heroes. For instance, Magneto, Doctor Strange, and The Punisher will receive buffs, while others, including Groot and Captain America, will face nerfs in their abilities.

However, the substantial update size has raised concerns among players with limited storage or slower internet connections. The necessity to re-download large portions of the game may pose challenges, highlighting the trade-off between content richness and accessibility.

Conclusion

Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 update promises to bring a bucketful of content, including innovative heroes and maps to gameplay improvements. These changes are aimed at elevating the overall gaming experience. However, what concerns players the most is the increase in the download size.

As soon as the update comes, players need to re-download a large portion of the game, which will be challenging for many. So, players are recommended to prepare their system in advance for this massive Marvel Rivals update.  The game will go offline at 2 AM PDT on May 30, 2025, to download this mid-season update.
