Google is adding several new tools to Gemini Notebook for students. The latest Gemini update introduced voice conversations, an audio recorder, quizzes, and flashcards. With these features now available, students can talk to their Notebook and ask instead of typing everything. The voice feature will not arrive for everyone at once. Google is first making it available to Google AI Ultra users aged 18 and above. Pro users and other users will get access later.
The AI recorder can capture lectures, meetings, and other spoken notes. The recordings can then fit with documents, photos, and handwritten notes in the same notebook. Gemini can also turn saved study material into quizzes and flashcards.
Google also offers free access to eligible college students. Eligible US students can access Google AI Pro for one year, while students in more than 140 other markets can receive Google AI Plus for free. The Pro plan normally costs USD 19.99 a month in the US.
Similarly, the Plus Plan will cost users USD 4.99 per month if not canceled after the free year. The student offer also gives higher usage limits in Gemini Notebook. Students can claim the offers until December 31, 2026, subject to Google’s eligibility rules.

The new tools make more sense when used together. A student could record a lecture and add class notes to the same notebook. Gemini can then answer questions based on those sources.
The student can also create a quiz or flashcards from the same material. This makes it easier to move from listening and reading to testing what was actually learned. The update gives Gemini Notebook a wider role in study sessions. Instead of simply holding research, it can now help users collect information, discuss it, and revise it from one place.
