Supreeth Kashyap had a stable tech job in Bengaluru, but that never gave him the mental peace that he was looking for. So, instead of continuing the regular job, he chose to build something of his own. That’s how the renowned apparel startup Wellbi was founded in 2021 in Mysuru.

Supreeth started his career at Accenture in 2017 after completing his computer science degree. “The salary was decent, but that peace of mind was missing in Bengaluru,” Kashyap revealed in an interview. He added, “Whatever I was doing in the IT industry was not completely satisfying. Like, I wanted to do something which would create meaningful employment opportunities, and apparel was the category which I ended up choosing.”

Wellbi has now grown into a company that makes around Rs. 1 crore in monthly revenue. Currently, the company has over 15 full-time employees and works with another 40 artisans involved in operations like yarn-making, weaving, and stitching.  Regarding his journey, the founder said, “I started with around Rs. 10 lakh, putting in some of my own money and taking some support from my family. Over time, I gradually built that into an initial investment of around Rs. 50 lakh as the business started taking shape.”

Additionally, the revenue growth was also interesting. Initially, the company raised around Rs. 3 crore from Angel investors. Supreeth mentioned, “We started doing about Rs. 11 lakh revenue in the first year, and we went ahead and did Rs. 70 lakh revenue in the next year. And then we did Rs. 2.4 crore in the next. Last year, we did Rs. 5.6 crore in revenue. Now this year we will be doing about 15 crore, 15 to 16 crore per annum.”

Why Professionals are Choosing Entrepreneurship

Kashyap’s story also reflects a shift in how people view their careers. A good salary and a big company name still matter, but they are not enough for everyone. Some professionals now want more control over their time and work. Others want to build something that has a clear purpose.

Choosing Mysuru instead of Bengaluru also makes his journey stand out. Most startup stories still come from big cities. Kashyap wanted to show that a business can grow from a smaller city too. Leaving a secure job to start a company is never an easy call. Kashyap took that risk and built Wellbi step by step. The company’s current revenue shows how far that decision has taken him.
