Facebook is rolling out a fresh set of creative tools powered by Meta AI, aiming to make self-expression more interactive across profiles, photos, feed posts, and stories. The update focuses on animation, AI-powered styling, and dynamic backgrounds, as the platform sharpens its push into social experiences led by generative AI.

How Can Users Animate Their Profile Pictures?

Users can now turn a static profile photo into a short animation within seconds. Facebook offers preset options such as natural motion, party hat, confetti, wave, and heart effects. The company plans to introduce more animations tied to seasonal events and special occasions later this year.

Facebook recommends that users achieve optimal results by using a photograph of one person looking directly at the camera, with their face clearly visible. Users can select images from their camera roll or previously uploaded Facebook photos. Once animated, the profile picture can also be shared on the Feed.

What does ‘Restyle’ Bring to Stories and Memories?

The new feature, “Restyle”, allows users to transform images in stories and memories using preset aesthetics or custom text prompts powered by Meta AI. After uploading a story or accessing memories, users can tap the restyle option to modify visuals.

Options include preset styles such as anime or illustrated, moods like glowy, lighting effects such as ethereal, color tones like cool or pink, and backgrounds like beach or cityscape. Facebook will also recommend older memories that users can enhance and reshare using Restyle.

How to Make Text Posts More Visual?

Facebook is gradually introducing animated backdrops for text-only feed posts. Users can tap the rainbow ‘A’ icon to select still or animated backgrounds, such as falling leaves or ocean waves, while composing their post.

Upcoming seasonal designs will offer festive options available only during specific times of the year. Facebook wants to use these updates to create a system that combines AI-generated content with users’ daily shared content to produce visually appealing, expressive posts.
