Initially, this update was scheduled to come on June 26, 2025, but with this announcement, it’s now infinitely delayed. Indeed it’s frustrating to gamers, but CDPR assured gamers that this delay is to ensure quality and more impressive features.
Fans have been expecting the Update 2.3 to be one of the major updates ever to come to the game. However, on June 23, one X post (formerly Twitter) changed everything. The update is now delayed without the next release date. Also, CDPR confirmed the 2.3 Update will be similar to the 2.2 Update. This means players can expect to have an update filled with loads of in-game goodies.
The December 2024 update has brought multiple bug fixes and stability patches. So, if the upcoming patch also brings the same things, it will probably include enhanced customization options, new vehicles, more paint jobs, improved police systems, and even fresh narrative content like the ‘Balatro’ questline.
The exact content of the update is under wraps, but expectations are high. Community speculations state new side missions and gameplay mechanics will come to expand NPC behaviors. Along with that, this update is speculated to balance late-game content.

The delay is disappointing, especially for hardcore Cyberpunk fans. However, CD Projekt RED has maintained transparency and communicated directly to fans. The official Cyberpunk 2077 account got the post where the team shared this delay.
The post revealed initially the team hoped to bring the update on time, but now they require more time. As an explanation, the team stated, “we’ll need some more time to make sure we’re happy with it—we’re aiming for a scope similar to Update 2.2. We’ll update you further as soon as we can!”
The further date is still unannounced. Still, the community has accepted it well. Players are happy that CDPR prioritizes quality over deadlines. Launching some buggy update isn’t what fans expect from a studio. Instead, it’s better to get a polished one.
Delays are never easy to digest. Fans expect a lot from the updates, and these delays make things massively different. However, the long-term satisfaction promise from CD Projekt RED has pacified their disapproval. With Update 2.3 seeming to be more than a mere patch and potentially a defining moment of post-launch evolution, the wait might be well worth it.
