Luno cuts its global workforce by 20% as part of a corporate reorganization process announced in July 2026. The move, which was confirmed by James Lanigan, Chief Executive Officer of the firm, responds to the need to adjust the company’s operating structure in light of recent crypto market behavior.
The company’s management did not detail the exact number of employees laid off during this restructuring phase. During the first months of 2026, prices of assets such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana experienced prolonged declines.
This increased volatility in retail segment trading across multiple platforms. According to statements by James Lanigan, the company executed continuous investments in automation and process improvements over the past year. Currently, Luno has a base of 16 million users across its African and Asia-Pacific markets.

Total value locked (TVL) on Robinhood Chain has climbed to around $325 million with no down days since launch, underscoring steady capital arrival.
Robinhood Chain continues to attract deposits, but the chain’s trading engine is no longer running at the peak levels seen in its second week. Daily DEX volume averaged $553 million last week, a 27% decline from the prior week.
Active accounts also slipped to about 275,000 per day, marking a 7% weekly drop. The ratio of DEX volume to TVL dropped from 9.25x in mid‑July to just 1.68x by last Friday.
Robinhood Earn’s estimated 7% APY on USDG appears to be a key driver, aligning with the decline in trading volume per active account, which slid to $2,000 from a peak of $2,800 two weeks earlier.
Morgan Stanley Investment Management announced the launch of the Morgan Stanley Ethereum Trust and Morgan Stanley Solana Trust on Tuesday. The products trade on NYSE Arca under the tickers MSSE and MSOL, respectively.
Both products charge an annual management fee of 0.14%, placing them among the lowest-cost US crypto exchange-traded products.
NYSE Arca approved the products after Morgan Stanley submitted the required filings to the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
Like spot crypto ETFs, they hold digital assets and allow investors to gain price exposure through traditional brokerage accounts without managing wallets or private keys.
Myanmar’s Parliament approved the Anti-Online Scam Bill on July 28 after reconciling amendments adopted by its lower and upper chambers.
The legislation targets digital-currency fraud, online scam centres, forced scam labour and financial infrastructure used by fraud networks.
The state-run Global New Light of Myanmar reported that the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw approved the bill in full. However, the final amended text, a presidential assent notice and a commencement date were not publicly available as of July 29.
The exact penalties therefore remain based on the May draft and comments from lawmakers who reviewed the final version.
