Football star Cristiano Ronaldo has announced a major investment and global partnership with Perplexity AI. The collaboration marks a high-impact crossover between sports influence and AI innovation.

Why has Cristiano Ronaldo Teamed Up with Perplexity AI?

According to Perplexity, Ronaldo’s involvement reflects a shared emphasis on curiosity and self-improvement. The platform described the partnership as aligning the athlete’s “legacy of self-improvement with an AI answer engine built for people who expect the same from their tools.”

The company also disclosed that Ronaldo uses Perplexity personally and “relies on it in high-stakes moments, including award speeches and major announcements.”

“Curiosity is a requirement for greatness….That’s why I am proud to announce my investment in Perplexity,” Ronaldo wrote as he announced his investment on X, formerly Twitter.

What is ‘Perplexity X CR7’ Digital Hub?

A central feature of the partnership is a digital hub ‘Perplexity x CR7’, which Ronaldo described as the start of a long-term vision. It will focus on integrating more than 20 years of his football legacy into a single immersive experience.

Perplexity said that fans will have the chance to delve into his career, rare archival images, scroll through curated questions, re-live iconic goals, and discover the stories behind them. It is designed to be an evolving space, and future additions include exclusive content, unique interactive experiences, and official CR7 merchandise.

How is Perplexity Expanding Its AI Capabilities for Consumers?

A week before the announcement, Perplexity launched an AI shopping assistant for US users. The assistant, currently available on desktop and web and soon to be available on mobile phones, makes personalized product recommendations based on natural language cues.

It also recalls all past communications with the user to refine its recommendations, using aesthetic matches and operational importance as criteria for listing order rather than pushing ads.

Perplexity, along with PayPal, has taken this step for payment processing, allowing businesses to accept payments and see who their customers are, while also enticing buy intent among users who prefer to explore via chat.
